THE VISITOR
THE VISITOR
I was unprepared when the Peacock strutted into my world. Bold and extravagant, the gaze of his multitude of unflinching eyes was both exhilarating and mesmerising. And why had he chosen my studio door step, or all possible perches, to take his ease? He stared at me. I stared at him. He occasionally dosed, his head drooping backwards in idleness, and then would suddenly jerk bolt upright, as though caught out shirking his duty. Why do you watch, mysterious blue visitor? I was finding it difficult to paint as his languor washed over me. And yet, I did. He watched me… and I watched him, this time with my own legion of unflinching eyes.
